Good businessstarts local.

Every business that joins Lekka contributes to ending hunger in South Africa — automatically, with no extra steps.

Our commitment

Built to give back.

Lekka exists to help independent local businesses grow. That means reinvesting in the same communities those businesses serve. Our giving is baked in — not bolted on.

Automatic, always-on

When a business joins Lekka, a contribution goes to FoodForward SA. No opt-ins, no conditions, no tiers. It happens every time.

Rooted in South Africa

Our giving is local — just like our platform. FoodForward SA serves communities across South Africa, with deep roots right here in Cape Town.

Visible to vendors

Every vendor on Lekka can see the real contribution their membership has made. We believe accountability builds trust.

FoodForward SA

FoodForward SA —nourishing lives.

FoodForward SA is South Africa's largest food bank NPO. They recover edible surplus food from farmers, manufacturers, and retailers — food that would otherwise go to waste — and distribute it to almost a million vulnerable people every day through a network of vetted beneficiary organisations across the country.

Why it matters

Hunger is a national crisis.

By 2023, more than 17.8 million South Africans were food insecure — and the number is still rising. Even the Western Cape, often seen as the exception, saw moderate food insecurity climb from 10.6% to 13.1%. The households most affected are those with children, female-headed households, and those reliant on informal or seasonal work.

Lekka is live across South Africa. Every vendor who joins — wherever they trade — is part of the same response. The businesses are local. The impact is real.
