None of the things that grow an independent café are revolutionary. They are simple, and they work because they get done consistently over time rather than in a burst. The hard part is finding the time and the tools to actually run them.
Here are seven that matter, in plain terms, and an honest account of how much of the work Lekka already does for you.
1. Build a list of your best customers, and own it
Build a list of the people who already love what you make, and protect it like the most valuable asset in the business. Social platforms change their rules constantly. A following you rent from an algorithm can shrink overnight. A list of your actual regulars is yours.
This is the foundation Lekka is built on. Every stamp a regular collects adds a real, named customer to your list, and they collect it by scanning your counter QR with their own phone, no app to download. Over a few weeks of normal trading you build a record of who your regulars actually are, not a follower count on a platform you do not control. That data is portable and it belongs to the café, not to a payment provider or a social network. You can see every customer, when they last visited, how many stamps they hold, and how close they are to a reward.
2. Run a simple, repeatable reason to come back
The promotions that work are not clever one-offs. They are simple systems you can run again and again. Consistency beats novelty.
Lekka has this built in two ways. The stamp card itself is a standing reason to return: a customer two stamps off a free flat white has a specific reason to choose your counter over the one down the road. And it only costs you when that customer earns their reward, never a percentage of every sale along the way. On top of that, the Promotions tool lets you run deals and offers whenever you want, and Broadcast lets you send a message, by email and in their Lekka card, straight to your customers to announce them. That is a repeatable promotion engine, not a side effect.

The stamp card is the standing reason to come back. Notice the pull of that last empty slot: that is the goal your regulars are working towards.
3. Track your numbers every week
Fifteen minutes a week looking at the same handful of numbers will tell you more than any amount of gut feel. Total stamps, unique visitors, return rate, how often people come back, peak times.
Lekka does most of this for you. The Insights tab shows your return rate, your average stamps per visitor, new members, rewards given, your busiest hour and your busiest day of the week, all without a spreadsheet. The weekly review the best operators swear by is already sitting on a screen in your pocket. Your job is to look at it.
💡 Tip
Pick the same fifteen-minute slot each week (Monday before you open, say) and look at four numbers: return rate, unique visitors, rewards given, and your busiest day. Four weeks of that and you will spot a trend long before it shows up in the till.
4. If the numbers do not support it, cut it
Plenty of things look like a success from the outside and quietly underperform once you actually run the figures. Knowing the difference is what lets you stop wasting effort.
Lekka shows you the customer side of this clearly. You can see who is active, who is going quiet, who is close to a reward and who signed up but never came back. When a promotion runs, you can see whether the regulars actually returned. That visibility is what turns a hunch into a decision.
5. Spend your energy where it moves the needle
You do not need to do everything. You need to know where your repeat business comes from and double down there. The rest is noise.
This is where the list and the tools come together. Lekka tells you who your top customers are, when they come in, and which of them are slipping away. Then Broadcast lets you act on it: a message to the regulars going quiet, an offer to the ones close to a reward, a nudge to the ones who have not been back. You are not shouting into a feed and hoping. You are speaking directly to the people who already spend money with you.
6. Price on your actual numbers
Price on what your product genuinely costs you to make, not on what feels right or what the shop next door charges.
This one is mostly outside what Lekka touches, and it would be dishonest to claim otherwise. The only connection worth drawing is this: a stamp-based reward is a fixed, known cost you control. You decide the ratio, and you know exactly what a completed card costs you. That predictability sits comfortably alongside pricing on real numbers, and Lekka itself is a flat monthly fee with no cut of your sales, so the platform is a known cost too.
7. Never compromise on the product, because that is what makes regulars
Everything else on this list is irrelevant if what you are selling is not genuinely excellent. The product is what turns a first-time customer into a regular, and a regular into someone who stays with you for years.
This is the line Lekka sits on. A loyalty card does not make a bad coffee worth returning for, and nobody should pretend it does. What it does is reward the loyalty an excellent product has already earned, recognise the regulars that product created, and give you a direct way to keep them coming back. The product comes first. Lekka is what you do once it has done its job.
Where this leaves a café owner
Look at the seven points and notice how many of them are one underlying skill: knowing your customers well enough to act. Build the list, give them a reason to return, track the numbers, find out where the repeat business comes from, look after the ones who matter, and keep making something worth coming back for.
For five of those seven, Lekka is not a passive helper sitting in the background. It is the tool that does the work. It builds the list as customers stamp, tracks the numbers for you, segments your regulars from your strays, runs your promotions, and lets you message the right people directly. It works at every till. No app downloads. No percentage of every sale. No payment platform required.
Know your regulars.
